Separately, a flourishing market exists on Telegram, where communities with thousands of members share comparison images, administration instructions and claims of next-day UK delivery. Vendors market the drug there before directing buyers to other platforms for transactions.

Understanding Retatrutide

Retatrutide is an experimental injectable developed by US drugmaker Eli Lilly. The treatment affects three intestinal hormones – GLP-1, GIP and glucagon. Early trials suggest it could help patients lose up to 25% of their total weight. Nicknamed the “triple G”, the substance is being hailed online as the next Ozempic.

Medical Experts Express Worries

Nevertheless, doctors and chemists have warned that the distribution of what remains an unlicensed drug in the UK is a cause for concern and could result in users administering substances of uncertain source.

Research also discovered groups with up to nine thousand members selling retatrutide using Telegram's integrated discovery tool, which operates like a online catalog. Entering “retatrutide” instantly brings up groups with thousands of members, filled with photos of slimming results, positive reviews and detailed instructions for mixing or administering at residence.

After moments of entering one group, a vendor posted WhatsApp details, where most purchases occur. The seller provided an guidebook and guaranteed shipping within two days. When asked whether the substance was authentic, one seller responded: “You can’t be sure.” Another provided a image of a supposed laboratory certificate. Not one asked about weight, health issues or previous experience.

Inside these groups, posts show dark colored packages with postal service stickers, claiming to include fresh supplies. One communication stated: “It took eight of us to load them this morning.”

Dr Crystal Wyllie of Asda Online Doctor linked the increase in interest to recent price rises for authorized slimming medications such as Mounjaro. “With prices rising, patients are turning to online platforms. But fake injections are extremely dangerous. You cannot know what’s contained or whether the environment they were produced in was sterile,” she said.

Her staff has previously seen patients harmed by personal administration from unverified sources. “We recognize the disappointment, but purchasing from Telegram or communication platforms is gambling with your well-being,” stated Wyllie. “These materials could be contaminated or improperly measured.”
